Here you'll find ideas, experiments and inspiration that comes from time to time. My medium of choice varies; from time to time I return to pastels or oil pastels. But I also work in water color, acrylic and primarily oil painting. Who knows? One day, I'll pick up a 20 pound mount of clay and mold something beautiful out of that!
Sailing Under a Penny Moon
One of those rare ideas that came 'before' the pastel hit the paper! I had this idea of a moon, possibly rising with the reflection of the setting sun casting it's rays across the sky and onto the moon. And what better way than to reflect also on water and a boat, making it's way across that body of water? Imagination is a gift!
Emotional Still Life
Experimentation with 'common items' is "common" among artist. Think of it as 'target practice' for one's skills. However, in this case, there was no "bowl of fruit" sitting on the table, I simply dove into this idea of shapes, like an apple or pear or…whatever that shape is the right hand corner! If you notice, when rendering with multiple colors, I blend "cools" and "warm" colors together in ways one doesn't typically see…something about the contrast, the challenges and victories of life that provide guidance for me.
